Beagle Pro’s and Con’s
Jono | June 21, 2008Beagle or Boxer?
Earlier today I was playing with Bosco a game I like to call “Kick your Bum”. I walk up to my beagle and say “Kick your Bum”, he begins to bark and tear around the room. I chase him and every now and then give him a soft tap on the back of his legs with my foot. He barks more and runs more, he loves it. Anyways after a short round of Kick Your Bum I bent over to give him a pat. Still hyper, Bosco leaped up towards my face, where my nose collided with the top of his skull. I immediately stood up and cupped my hands around my nose, the pain was severe. I have never been punched in the nose before so for a minute I actually thought it was broken. Maybe Bosco should have been a Boxer instead of a Beagle. Ever been accidentally injured by your pooch? Please comment.

I have a boy Beagle who does this. When
LuvNBeags | July 3, 2008I have a boy Beagle who does this. When we play, he jumps up at your face and, while he doesn’t bite, it is like he is punching you. We immediately stop playing and ignore his attempts to resume. I think that he understands that we are hurt and feels badly. Our lack of attention has inspired him to tone down the aggressive playing a bit.
Does anyone know how to get their Beagle to not bark like crazy at other animals on walks? We’ve tried no shock bark collars, moving him along quickly, priasing his quite times, punishing the loud, everything. It’s impossible. I have a girl Beagle who could care less. What did I do wrong with the boy? They’re both fixed! HELP!
I have a girl beagle and she does the same
Shauna | July 31, 2008I have a girl beagle and she does the same thing, I really love to walk her but almost dread running into other dogs, especially the bigger ones! I’ve already had a few instances where there have been bigger dogs, and to top that off, running w/o a leash!!! The biggest fear I have is that Roxy is going to do her usual constant bark at them being the bigger dog are going to show her who’s boss. I have noticed though that Roxy tends to bark at them if we try to keep her and the passing dogs apart, but if she actually gets to come face to face and meet, she usually shuts up.
